Field of Warmth

Funny story.  I was looking for some spare pastel paper to draw on and couldn’t seem to find what I wanted. Of course, you know how that goes…you start looking at everything you have in the closet and before you know it a few hours have lapsed. I found things I forgot I had!  There were things I treasured so much to the point where I carefully wrapped them and tucked them away.  I found pictures I wanted to draw and thought I had lost them! It was an early holiday for me! The picture above was tucked in a pad of pastel paper. It was between two pieces of tracing paper so that the pastel wouldn’t rub off. I remember doing all that prep work, but do you think I could remember? Oh no! The memories flooded the minute I opened the pad of paper.  At the time, I wasn’t fond of the way it looked, but today after about 6 or 7 years, I don’t think it’s  bad at all.  Working with art is a “Love and Hate relationship”, some days I’m glowing about the work I  completed and other days I feel like  crumpling it up and throwing it away.  At the time I must have thought that it wasn’t ready for the trash and that there would be some hope.  Well, here I sit admiring something I forgot about, but reminiscing about the time I created it.  It’s a good feeling. On another note, I have learned to keep things within eyes length. Life is too short to tuck things away for preservation.  Life is a show, it brings happiness not only to you, but to others that enjoy creativity and the emotions the artist portrays in his/her creations. 🙂
