Something different, but inspiring

Welcome back to my website!

Not only do I mostly dabble in metals of all kinds to make shiny, blingy jewelry, but I also love experimenting with other art media.

I have been taking an acrylic paint class that has taken me to another spot in the art world. It's very different than what I had been practicing, which is pastels. Paint tends to tell me to "wait" and try to find another spot on my canvas to work on. I have to blend things on a palette, with a palette knife or a brush, and hope it comes out to the color I want, which can be a bit trying, and they dry fast. The paints can be very vibrant or subdued. I also like the texture it brings to the painting. The positive of this venture is that I have loosened up in my technique. I want to go painterly-like. I'm getting there, but still feel I need to practice more. Does this make me a better teacher to my students? I think I do!

Talking about students, I brought a canvas I worked on in class, a Piet Mondrian painting, only with hearts on it. They loved it and asked me, "Can I do that?" Of course, I said yes to them. They asked me many questions, and I was so excited. The following week, a student came in and had 2 canvases in hand...Her version of Piet Mondrian! My heart exploded with joy! Here is another reason I love expressing myself in different media.

So I am venturing out of my comfort zone to show you one of the pieces I have been working on, "Just for fun". Do I waste a lot of paint? Absolutely! Do Michaels and Blick love me? Yup! Thankfully, all stores have buy-one, get-one-free. :)

Create with whatever you have in front of you because you are always inspiring someone to take a chance, a risk, and, more importantly, to show their feelings. :)
